Before Robert Pattinson, the Jonas brothers and Justin Timberlake, there was ... Regis Philbin? Yeah, he's the only star actress Dakota Fanning has stood in line to meet, she revealed on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC).
During Philbin's 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' days, 6-year-old Fanning, her mother and 2-year-old sister Elle went to the mall to buy a Philbin-brand tie for their dad and get his autograph. Philbin signed the receipt ("38 bucks for the tie," Jimmy Kimmel noted), and Fanning was satisfied. Her little sister was not.
"She's in my mom's arms," said Fanning. "She didn't get an autograph and didn't get to meet Regis. So we're walking away through the Macy's, and my sister's going, 'Regis, Regis!' -- crying for Regis!"
"Yeah, well nothing breaks a kid's heart like not getting to meet Regis," joked Kimmel, comparing him to yet another current idol popular with teen girls...
