Cheryl Cole has contracted malaria, it was reported today. The X Factor judge was diagnosed at hospital on Sunday night following her collapse at a photo shoot over the weekend. It was initially thought that Cheryl was merely suffereing from severe exhaustion and a stomach virus, but when she started to drift in and out of consciousness it became apparent soemthing more serious was wrong. Although malaria can be deadly, it's thought the strain Cheryl has is one of the weaker ones and it's been caught in plenty of time to be treated. Unfortunately, though, it looks likely the Girls Aloud star will miss the remaining X Factor live auditions while she stays at home recovering. Cheryl is thought to have contracted malaria while on holiday in Tanzania with friend Derek Hough recently. She had taken anti-malaria tablets but they failed to prevent her picking up the disease. Poor poor Cheryl. We hope she gets well soon.

Jedward's Edward Grimes has been told he must rest his busted leg for at least four weeks, but he's refusing to let the injury interfere with their planned tour. "We have to go on for our fans," he said yesterday. "We don't want to be like U2 - we'll carry on even if I have to go on stage on crutches." Talking about his fall at T4 On The Beach, Edward admits, "It was the most painful thing that's ever happened to me.I was crying like a baby in the ambulance and I kept thinking my leg would snap if I stretched it out." Rather adorably, Edward says he refused an offer of morphine from the doctors, saying indignantly, "I'm not a druggie!"

The identity of the woman who gave birth to Cristiano Ronaldo's baby son is still a mystery, but it's being rumoured that he used a surrogate. An American surrogate mum and a Danish heiress both announced their pregnancies not long after meeting Ronaldo, but it's not known which - if either - of them is the mummy. Ronaldo claimed yesterday that the mother wishes to remain anonymous, but he is known to have had a fling with the Danish girl AND met up with the surrogate mum while in San Diego. We're still a bit baffled by this whole thing, aren't you?
