Katy Perry's whirlwind romance with Russell Brand has been quite an adventure. The British comedian popped the question to Perry after only four months of dating while the two were vacationing in India in December 2009. Now, the 'I Kissed a Girl' singer opens up in August's Esquire UK about how she tamed the off-the-wall actor, who she admits "used to basically be a professional prostitute."
Perry reveals that she even made Brand wait to have sex, though he tried to make advances on the set of 'Get Him to the Greek.' In fact, she responded by throwing a bottle at Brand that "hit him smack dab on the head," she told Esquire. "Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted? I was like, 'You've met your match.'"
Brand and Perry met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009 and have made their affection for one another known with around-the-world PDA ever since.
She also takes credit for taming Brand, who has spoken about his sex and drug addictions in the past. "He's an extremist, which can be both good and bad. I always needed someone stronger than me and I am, like, a [expletive] strong elephant of a woman. I say that hopefully in the humblest way I can."
Perry continues, "[We are] two divas in one house. It's like splitting the atom: it shouldn't happen."
