Despite not having a single hit in her kitty, actress Sonam Kapoor has made her presence felt in Bollywood with her elegance and style but this time it was her sister Rhea who impressed us with her subtle chic sense of style and poise with her first formal public appearances on Sunday, at the music release of the forthcoming movie ‘Aisha’. She chose the midway between a dire professional look and a young breezy style with a a pair of slim-fitted black pants from Alexander Wang, a white top from Zara and an asymmetrically-cut semi-formal jacket with white piping from Elizabeth & James. She completed her look with smart booties from Alexander Wang and earrings borrowed from her mother for the evening.
Made under dad Anil Kapoor’s banner, the movie has the honor of being Rhea’s first production venture. Rhea began her career as an assistant director with Ayan Mukherjee in Wake up Sid.
Bollywood stylist Rajat Tangri comments on the two sisters’ style funda saying, “While Sonam’s style is more out there and fun, Rhea sticks to understated and functional fashion. Their dressing styles clearly reflect the professions they have chosen. Sonam wears a lot of girlie dresses, pinks and frills just like a la-di-dah movie star. But Rhea is seen in pants and interesting jackets, quite like a young producer who attended school in New York. Even when Rhea has done the girlie dressing routine, on red carpet-outings with her family, she has stuck to the classic little black dress.”
Tangri adds, “What made Rhea’s style stand out at the event was that she chose the smart style of an uptown professional, true to her part as a producer. On the other hand, the cast of the movie - all girls her age, including Sonam, Lisa Haydon, Ira Dubey and Amrita Puri - wore feminine silk dresses and sequinned minis.”
Rhea had recently revealed her love for tailored trousers on Twitter, when she asked Sonam to get her some from Scotland. Sonam has been shooting in Scotland for Mausam with Shahid Kapur.

Mumbai’s deluge has just claimed its first Bollywood casualty. Madhur Bhandarkar’s comedy Dil To Bachcha Hai Jee whose shooting was supposed to start this week from July 1, has been postponed.

Madhur Bhandarkar confirms these developments. “I was supposed to start shooting with Omi Vaidya and Emran Hashmi from July 1. All the scenes were outdoors in Mumbai, on the streets in public places. We didn’t want the comedy to be restricted to the sets.”

Alas! the rain gods had other plans. And now Madhur finds himself stuck with the problem of his two leading men’s dates going in vain. Says Madhur, “We’re going to start shooting from July 5. Hopefully, the rain will be under control by then. If the weather doesn’t improve we’ll move indoors and shoot in cafes, etc”.

Meanwhile, the hunt for a leading lady for Ajay Devgn is still on. Says Madhur, “We’ve some time in hand to look for the girl, before Ajay joins us.”

Plot: When the Cullens throw an 18th birthday party for Bella, things go very wrong when she cuts herself while opening a present. Edward and his family decide to leave Forks to protect Bella from further vampire attacks. The heartbroken teen finds solace with childhood friend Jacob Black, a member of the Quileute tribe who has a secret of his own: He's a werewolf. Introduced are the Volturi, ancient enforcers of vampire law and based in Italy.

USA TODAY's Claudia Puig's take: "Edward has a habit of making his entrances in dramatic slow-mo, unintentionally eliciting laughter. In contrast, when Jacob, a member of the local Quileute tribe, appears — often shirtless — his ultra-fit physique draws squeals from young female audience members. Even gloomy Bella comes out of her funk long enough to comment on his newly buff bod."

Film: Eclipse
Release date: Wednesday
Plot: The Cullens are back in town, and Edward wants Bella to marry him. Not so fast, she says. She wants him to make her a vampire so their love can be eternal. Both of these desires place them in direct conflict with Jacob, who loves Bella and wants her to remain human. Meanwhile, an army of vicious newborn vampires led by the vengeful Victoria are heading their way, forcing the Cullens and the werewolves to forge an uneasy alliance to fight them.

Breakout stars: Too soon to tell. But Xavier Samuel, 26, got the most screen time as Riley, the newbie-in-chief. Loyal to Victoria, who "changed" him in a Seattle attack, he leads her rabid minions to Forks for the film's climactic showdown.

Her Ali might be a showbiz staple as old as greasepaint: a plucky gal from Iowa who runs off to the big city to follow her dreams and lands a job at a struggling nightclub.

Yet it was her character's heart and grit that caught her eye. Says Aguilera, 29, who has been candid about her own childhood travails: "It wasn't just a girl who comes to L.A. and makes it big. It was a girl who had suffered and felt pain, been in seven foster homes. She doesn't let her past make her a victim. And that to me was so appealing."

Director/writer Steven Antin was impressed by how quickly Aguilera adapted to a new type of performing. "She figured out how it works within weeks. She is a little bit of a freak of nature and a perfectionist. This girl is a movie star."

The novice actress found the perfect mentors in such castmates as Cher, who hasn't had a major film role since 1999's Tea With Mussolini, and Stanley Tucci, recent Oscar nominee for The Lovely Bones.

"I love no-bull-(expletive) women, and she's the best of the best," Aguilera says of Cher, who plays Tess, owner of The Burlesque Lounge. "An original trendsetter in her time and a legend in mine. I found her kind and warm. She had helpful advice and stories for days."

And she's been outspoken about wanting to leave acting behind to spend more time with her family. But Jolie remains one of Hollywood's busiest and most in-demand stars, despite her plans to quit her very lucrative gig. USA TODAY takes a look at Jolie's acting declarations.
What she said: In the August 2010 issue of Vanity Fair, Jolie discussed her plans to ditch her day job. "It's not the most important thing in my life. Acting helped me as I was growing up. It helped me learn about myself, helped me travel, helped me understand life, express myself, all those wonderful things," she said. "So I'm very, very grateful, it's a fun job. It's a luxury. Look, I'm at work today in the middle of Venice. But I don't think I'll do it much longer."

What's in the works: Super-producer Scott Rudin has optioned the rights to Cleopatra: A life and is developing the film for and with Angelina Jolie.

What she said: In November 2008, while promoting her Clint Eastwood film Changeling, Jolie told the BBC that "I'm ready to do a few things now and fade away and get ready to be a grandma one day." She added that she plans to "work for a few months" in February, then take a year off. "I won't work again probably for another year," she said. "So maybe it'll be once a year, then maybe it'll be once every three years."

What went down: She did take time off, but not a year. Since that interview, Jolie filmed two major, big-ticket projects, the action thriller Salt and the drama The Tourist. She began shooting Salt in March 2009, and The Tourist in Venice and Paris beginning in February 2010.

What she said: In March 2007, right after adopting her son Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, she told Vietman's Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper that she would "stay at home to help Pax adjust to his new life. I have four children and caring for them is the most important thing for me at the moment. I am very proud and happy to be their mother."

What went down: Days after the adoption was finalized, Universal Pictures announced that Jolie would be starring in the action flick Wanted. Jolie arrived in the Czech Republic in May 2007 to start work on the movie.
