Easy, inexpensive DIY project: painting stripes on walls

Beautiful Easy, inexpensive DIY project: painting stripes on walls

Wallpaper has resurfaced as a major decorating trend in the last five or so years, and much as I’m dying to partake, the expense of not only the actual wallpaper but the labor to hang it (this definitely falls under the category of home improvement projects I don’t trust myself to tackle on my own) is daunting. Instead, I’ve been considering painting a pattern on my walls to mimic the graphic effect. And if you go with something relatively straightforward, like stripes, it doesn’t seem that hard to accomplish.

First, pick your colors. If you’re craving something really bold you can go with opposing shades of black and white or something similarly high-contrast. For a more subtle look, try shades within one color group, like robin’s egg and powder blue. It can also be fun to mix paints with different finishes—like matte and semigloss—for more visual interest.

Consider whether you want vertical or horizontal stripes. Both add dimension to a space, though vertical stripes make the ceiling seem taller, while horizontal ones can make a room feel bigger.

Who's wearing Super Furry Animals on their heads?

We are song enjoy Who's wearing Super Furry Animals on their heads?

Remember those River Island panda hats everyone had last year? Even Katy Perry got in on the action. Well, they’re back and bigger than ever. We were a bit dubious when we saw them at the Topshop and River Island AW10 press days, but it seems the fash-pack are more than willing to embrace the furry trend.

Gorgeous Daisy Lowe went first, wearing a fluffy husky on her head to a Nokia launch party at the Brixton Academy in November 2009, and yesterday, Ellie Starry Eyed Goulding showed off her stripy tiger headgear at T4 On The Beach.

This is definitely a tough look to pull off, but it is not impossible. Just have fun with it. Our biggest tip? A rubber chicken hat may be waterproof but it ain’t nearly as cute, Miranda Kerr…

Paris Hilton blames spliff arrest on mistaken identity

Now we saw this Paris Hilton blames spliff arrest on mistaken identity

Paris Hilton has taken to Twitter to reassure her fans she had "nothing to do" with that weed-smoking incident that occured in South Africa on Friday. Paris was reported to have been arrested for smoking a spliff during a World Cup football match, but the heiress says it was simply a case of mistaken identity. "I had nothing to do with it," she says. "I was not charged or arrested, cause I didn't do anything. I was assisting the police with the investigation and answering their questions. Everyone was super nice and friendly to me. I love South Africa! Such an amazing place, especially during The World Cup!" It turns out that another blonde in Paris Hilton's group was the one actually smoking the drug, and Paris has now accepted an apology from the authorities. We want to say something here about smoke and fire, but we won't.

Time for a T4 On The Beach gallery? Yeah, why not?

We saw the Time for a T4 On The Beach gallery? Yeah, why not?

From birds' nest hair to bust legs to balls on the BBQ to Alexandra Burke's puppy licking her on the mouth, T4 On The Beach was, as ever, a brilliant party. Everyone from JLS to The Saturdays to N-Dubz to Chipmunk to Basshunter to Diana Vickers took to the stage in the sunshine at Weston-super-Mare and entertained the thousands who'd wedged themselves onto a train just to watch their idols. Alexandra Burke boogied in some eye-wateringly tight high-waisted American Apparel shorts with statement shoulder top, while Diana Vickers worked '60s chic in a monochrome graphic dress topped with a mahoossive beehive. Gabriella Cilmi strutted across the soggy sand in a pair of very fancy toe-mould Vivienne Westwood heels and Pixie Lott showed off yet another Lipsy creation with one of heat's flower garlands strung around her neck. Ellie Goulding sizzled in a Topshop lace panelled bodysuit and Tulisa from N-Dubz put the rest of her band to shame in a mint green shift. JLS closed the show with an energetic performance just as the heavens opened, but we don't think the crowd (or us, for that reason) minded when their tops got all wet and clingy... Take a look through the gallery below and tell us whose look you like the best.

No Bollywood celebrity on Forbes “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” list

Watches this No Bollywood celebrity on Forbes “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” list

NEVADA - Religious statesman Zed has blamed Forbes list “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” of unevenness.

In a statement in Nevada (USA) today, Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, asked Forbes either to alter the criteria and methodology of selection in order to be more inclusive or change the name of the annual list to “USA’s Most Powerful Celebrities”.

Rajan Zed further said that although it claimed to be a “world” list, about 85 per cent of celebrities included in it were from USA. Other 15 percent celebrities listed were from roughly nine countries out of total about 194.

So this “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” list appeared to be telling us that about 185 countries, including most populated countries like China and India, somehow lacked in “powerful” celebrities, Zed argued.

According to the list, which came out on June 28, about 85 world’s powerful celebrities were from USA, followed by five from United Kingdom, two each from Canada and Australia, and one each from Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal, Philippines, Russia, and Brazil. Forbes’ defines this list as “annual ranking of the world’s ultra-famous” and a “measure of power based on money and fame”.

Media queen Oprah Winfrey at number one is followed in descending order by Beyonce Knowles, James Cameron, Lady Gaga, Tiger Woods, Britney Spears, U2, Sandra Bullock, Johnny Depp, Madonna.

Television actress Mariska Hargitay is last in the list at number 100. (ANI)

Wardrobe Malfunction on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (VIDEO)

New news this Wardrobe Malfunction on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (VIDEO)

Why do we watch 'So You Think You Can Dance'? For the dancing? For the technical artistry? Yes, of course, we watch it for those reasons. But then, there are some potential side-benefits as well. And so we present you with these three simple words: Female ... Wardrobe ... Malfunction.

[Spoiler alert.]

On tonight's 'SYTYCD' (Wed., 8PM ET on Fox), Lauren and Neil danced to a Broadway tune, and Lauren was wearing a sparkling 1940s-style dress. And then, things went a little wrong -- when the top strap of her dress broke.

Stunningly, Lauren managed to make it through her entire performance without flashing anyone. (Though the camera seemed to protectively zoom away from her for a second -- remember that this show is being broadcast live.) Even more impressively, Lauren's dance routine was great! Although the judges were also kind of focused on the near-nudity.

While discussing the dance and the wardrobe malfunction, judge Nigel Lythgoe said this: "I enjoyed that tremendously." He instantly got this reply from Mia Michaels: "I'm sure you did!" Zing! Well played, Mia!

Celebrity Apprentice Winner! 2010 Finale Results Revealed

The Celebrity Apprentice winner 2010 was revealed on Celebrity Apprentice Winner! 2010 Finale Results Revealed

And the winner is...Bret Michaels!

The former Poison rocker, whose recent health issues have made him one of the most-talked-about men in the country, won the Celebrity Apprentice title after creating a fun, Bret-Michaels-style Snapple ad campaign in the season's final challenge. Holly Robinson Peete, who was a solid performer throughout the season, didn't seem to have a chance against the beloved rock star, who traveled to the finale despite suffering a warning stroke just days ago.

"I didn't travel this far in this much pain to lose," Bret told Trump, joking that he doesn't mind playing the sympathy card because Holly played the hotness card with the dress she wore.

Holly joked that it has been Bret-mania since the rocker suffered a brain hemorrhage last month -- and even her five year old son was rooting for Bret.

In the end, Donald Trump revealed the results most of our readers predicted -- Bret is the new Celebrity Apprentice 2010 winner. In an unexpected twist, Donald Trump announced that both charities will receive $250,000 from Snapple. Bret's winnings will benefit the American Diabetes Foundation, a cause that is close to his heart because he suffers from the disease.

Thoughts: Do you think Bret deserved to win or did he get the sympathy vote? Let me know in the comments!
